 Wrath and Penance
A Modern Day Story of Job
By: Randy Davis
Orphaned at a young age, Sam Nelson had strived his whole life to attain that which he wanted most; a family. And now husband to a loving wife and father to four young children, Sam was happy and content. It was the perfect life of a good man. Then one night Sam had a dream that exposed him to some of the great mysteries of heaven and though he couldn't remember the dream after waking the next day, his rich full life would soon be over.
While on vacation with his family in San Antonio a few weeks later, the city is attacked by middle-eastern terrorists during the height of the annual week-long fiesta celebration. The terrorists explode four powerful bombs that kill tens of thousands attending the parades. As a result of the attack, Sam's family is killed; he himself is gravely injured after selflessly trying to fight four heavily-armed men. Succumbing to his wounds, Sam lay in a coma for three long years. Upon awakening, the harsh reality of his loss pushes him to the brink of insanity and suicide. With the help of a kindly old man, Sam begins to heal only to find himself a pawn to the forces of good and evil. Learning that one of his children may have survived the attack, Sam with his new friend Ben, begin a search that reveals the wrathful nature of mankind as well as the humble penance that can also be ours. In an epic struggle between heaven and hell, the Creator calls upon Sam to fulfill a destiny he could never have imagined while Lucifer sees Sam as a tool that can finally provide him with the single victory over Heavenly Father he has always sought, and in the end, Sam may have no choice but to give Lucifer his prize.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author has something to say about the state of fatherhood in the world we live in. I am a father and I felt like Mr. Davis was talking to me. The good thing about reading a book instead of watching a movie is that a book you can read in private. The reactions I had to some parts of this book actually made me emotional. I will tell all my friends about this book. Thank you.

I read 1st chapter so far. I think the chapter is awesome. I hope the rest of the book is as good. I look forward to reading it.The child 'Abby' first appears to be an imperfect little girl with lots of challenges. Because of her ability to laugh, love and enjoy hugs, kisses & smiles, but has no knowledge of evil, she may be the only form of perfection Sam will ever encounter in this life. Congratulations to the Author.

Just before these chapters, I read the chapters from Lucifer Resplendent. I was expecting my head to explode from the different views. I think one or two of thecharacters have the same name.Obviously not the same author, same treatment or same epic struggle though. Wish the authors would read eath others books!

The first two chapters are great. The prologue was a little too much but once past that I loved it. I thought this was going to be a religous book because of the JOB thing. But it isn't at all. Also, I HATE PAY PAL!!

The first chapter was great! The book came recommended to me, so I was pleasantly surprised to find what a fine job the author has done with it. Good character and story development... I can't wait to find out how it ends. I hope to see this book in bookstores and doing quite well, as authors like Mr. Davis need to be recognized and rewarded for their fine efforts. Books such as this one are why I enjoy going to bookstores to satisfy my reading habit. Good job!

The first two chapters were not as religiously inclined as I was expecting. The writing is good. Sentence construction, grammar, spelling all ok. The terrorists seem well portrayed and I like the technical descriptions described such that even I could understand. I will recommend this book to my friends.

I was surprised by how good this book is. It was recommended to me and I found it to be immensely entertaining. The people the author created were so vivid and real that I became completely engrossed in the story. The plot was original, at first I thought it would be another Muslim pile-on but the story was about revenge, repentance, and forgiveness. I thought this book was wonderful.

This book seems to be a commentary on the status of fatherhood in today's culture of success at all cost. The author speaks quite correctly to how the problems of greed and arrogance affect the family. This book has all the elements of a great book. A hero who doesn't hog the attention of the reader because of all the other interesting characters, action, complexity. I recomend the book.

This book is very good. The entire plot is something new, the author has a wide ranging imagination, yet everything presented in the book is entirely plausible. You leave this book thinking that everything here is possible. This really is a very good book though it does need some editing as one of the other comments suggest. Sam is a great main character. Rudy is a bad man that you feel yourself wanting him to turn out good. The character of Avadon was my favorite, but I will not say any more. Read this book!

The author is a freind of mine, but even still he did a great job here. I didn't know he had it in him. Good job Randy! This book will appeal to people who believe in God, who believe we as humans can do better, and also everyone who lives action and adventure.

As the comment above says the book does start a little slow. However the author uses this time to build up the characters. The book feels real, the people in it are alive as a result of the auther not jumping pell-mell into a bunch of inexplicable action. The book is well worth the time to read you will feel uplifted at the potential for mankind presented here.

OMG! this book is good! It starts off slow, but after a couple of chapters I could not put it down. I got this book because the religious theme intrigued me. But it reads more like a Tom Clancy thriller with a religious twist. Mr. Davis' ability to describe a large scale terrorist attack on US soil is awesome; the technical detail is great, yet easy to understand. The method the terrorist use to carry off their plan is detailed and I'm sure will scare the crap out of the department of homeland security. The efforts the main character puts into finding his lost child are tender and touching. I haven't felt this uplifted after reading a book in a long time. You owe it to yourself to read this book.

Very Nice! A retelling of the Book of Job from the Bible, Old Testament in modern Times! A novel idea if you'll pardon the pun. Reads well too.
